Places to visit in New Delhi, India
I hope you read the part one of this article. Let me tell you about three more historic places to visit in New Delhi, the capital of India.
It has three gates and four towers with 40 meter high minarets. You can reach there by local buses, auto rickshaws and metro rail. The mosque is open everyday for everyone to visit. It has no of Budget hotels in delhi. Delhi has number of tourist palce are as follow.
India Gate - The India gate is one of the major tourist spots. It is also known as the All India War Memorial. It was built in the year 1931 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It is 42 meter tall. It was built in the memory of the 90,000 Indian soldiers who died in World War I fighting for Britain. An eternal flame called as 'Amar Jawan Jyoty' was lit under the arch of India gate in the memory of soldiers who sacrificed their life in the war in 1971. The best time to visit India gate is in the evening at the time of sunset. India gate is also a famous picnic point. You must visit India gate whenever you visit Delhi.
Lotus Temple - Lotus temple is the Baha'i house of worship. It is dedicated to the oneness of all the religions. It is the most famous temple of New Delhi. It is built in the shape of a Lotus flower. The temple is among the most visited places by tourists.
Akshardham Temple – The Akshardham temple is one of the most popular and recently built temples in New Delhi. The temple was constructed by Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) inspired by Shree Pramukh Swami Maharaj - a leader of BAPS. The temple is dedicated to lord Swaminarayana - lord Krishna. It is located on the bank of Yamuna river. It is spread over 100 acres area. The temple is built without steel and supported by around 234 carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 Shikhars, and 20,000 statues of great devotees and sadhus of India are carved inside the temple. The base of the temple is made of Gajendra Pith. Pink stones and white marbles were used to construct the temple because pink stone symbolize Bhakti (faith) and white marble symbolize peace. The statue of lord Swaminarayana is made up of panch dhatu (five metals) and is 11 feet high. The temple was inaugurated in November 2005 by Shree Pramukhswami maharaj in the presence of the then President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other leaders. The temple is recorded as the world's most largest comprehensive Hindu temple in the Guinness book of world records. There are many other attractions like the hall of value which displays the life of Swaminarayana. There is a theatre named Nilkanth Yatra which houses Delhi's biggest screen. There are also musical fountains, gardens, boat rides, etc. Thus all in all, its a must visit place.
There are many other places to see and visit in Delhi like the ISKCON Temple, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Jantar Mantar, National Rail Museum, Parliament House, etc.
